About Kruger's Rest Camps

Kruger National Park spans nearly 20,000 km² across Limpopo and Mpumalanga, making it one of Africa's largest game reserves. The park offers over 20 camps ranging from the full-service village of Skukuza to remote bushveld camps with no electricity.

South Kruger — Skukuza, Lower Sabie, Berg en Dal, Crocodile Bridge, Pretoriuskop — delivers the best Big Five sightings and is most accessible from Johannesburg.

Central Kruger — Satara, Olifants, Letaba, Orpen — is renowned for lion and leopard on open plains and the famous cliff-top views at Olifants.

North Kruger — Mopani, Shingwedzi, Punda Maria — rewards patience with massive elephant herds, rare antelope, and exceptional tropical birding rarely seen in the south.

Kruger Weather by Season

☀️ Summer (Oct–Mar) — Wet season

Hot and humid, 30–40°C. Afternoon thunderstorms are common. Excellent for birdlife and newborn animals. Malaria risk is highest — take prophylaxis.

🌿 Winter (Apr–Sep) — Dry season

Clear skies, 7–26°C. Mornings can be very cold. Vegetation is sparse so game viewing is exceptional. Peak season — book camps well in advance.

🎯 Best months: June–August

Ideal combination of great game viewing, comfortable temperatures and minimal rain. Book SANParks accommodation up to 11 months in advance.
