About Balule

Balule is Kruger's most rustic camp — just six huts and 15 camping sites on the Olifants River with no electricity (paraffin lamps only) and a low fence as your only barrier from the bush. Enormous riverine trees including baobabs and Natal mahoganies shade the camp while elephant, hippo, and lion frequent the river. It's a firm favourite with those seeking an authentic, unfiltered wilderness experience.

Highlights

  • No electricity — paraffin lamps only
  • Low fence between you and the bush
  • Baobab, mahogany & sausage trees
  • Elephant, hippo & lion near the Olifants River
  • Classic back-to-basics bush camping
