Dometic CFX3 45 portable fridge freezer — can it handle Kalahari heat?
12 months of ownership, 7 proper off-road trips ranging from day runs to 7-day expeditions. Here is my honest, no-BS review.
Bought from Overlander in Joburg for R15,200. Fitting took 2 hours DIY.
Performance: the cooling performance in extreme heat is excellent — held 4°C inside when the ambient was 42°C in the Kalahari. The app connectivity is handy but not essential.
Compared to National Luna 40L: I considered the alternative before buying. The price difference was around R2774. Based on what I have seen from other owners in this community, I think I made the right call — though I acknowledge I have not used the other one personally.
Would I buy again: Without hesitation. Rating: 10/10.
Any specific questions — happy to help. I remember how hard it was to find honest owner reviews before I bought, so I try to pay it forward.

Good review. I have had the same shocks for 42 months and the experience matches yours — never let me down in the field.
Just ordered one based on this thread. Delivery to Pretoria was 6 working days and it arrived well packaged. First impressions match your review — build quality is excellent.
How does it compare to the TRED Pro? I have been going back and forth between the two and at the price difference of around R3163, I am not sure the premium is justified for my use case.
Good review. I have had the same roof rack for 20 months and the experience matches yours — never let me down in the field.
