Limpopo is arguably SA's best 4x4 province — Kruger back roads, Waterberg mountains, and the Limpopo River floodplain.
Notable Routes
Kruger Wilderness Trails — The S-roads in northern Kruger are corrugated, sandy, and game-rich. S50, S56, and the Pafuri region are musts.
Waterberg — Marakele Back Roads — Farm tracks and conservancy routes around the Waterberg plateau. Self-sufficient required.
Blouberg Nature Reserve — Remote, rarely visited. Rocky tracks to a stunning sandstone plateau. Limpopo River views.
Mapungubwe National Park Roads — UNESCO World Heritage Site. 4x4 required for some sections. Extraordinary landscape and history.
Limpopo Valley Roads — The dirt tracks near the Zimbabwe and Botswana borders are adventurous. Check road conditions after rain.
