EBASS 2025 tournament calendar — venues, dates, and how to enter
Spent 4 days at this spot last month. Here is the full breakdown.
Target species: yellowfish and carp. We focused on the bigger fish and had a surprisingly productive session.
Tactics that worked: Fish at night when the surface activity picks up. Use surface lures at dawn for best results.
Access: Valid freshwater licence required — R63 per season, buy online at dffe.gov.za or at any post office.
Accommodation: Camped at the nearest caravan park — R227/night for a powered site. Facilities were better than expected.
Best time to visit: After the first summer rains.
Tip for first-timers: Bring more ice than you think you need.
10/10 destination. Will be back.

7/10 sounds about right based on my experience. The facilities is the weakest part. The fishing makes up for it.

Solid report. The catfish after dark is exactly what I have found works at this spot. What line weight are you fishing? I have been using 12lb monofilament and getting results.
Did you get a guide or self-guided? I have been debating hiring someone local who knows the specific hot spots rather than trying to figure it out myself. Is the extra cost worth it or is the fishing good enough to find it yourself?
