Top Spots
Drakensberg — Giants Castle — Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. High Berg, lammergeier (bearded vulture), San rock art. Iconic. Book months ahead.
Drakensberg — Cathedral Peak — Spectacular scenery, good hiking for all levels. Camping and chalets.
iSimangaliso Wetland Park — St Lucia — World Heritage Site. Hippos, crocodiles, incredible birding. Cape Vidal for snorkelling. Bookings through SANParks.
Sodwana Bay — Diving mecca. Bush camping, loud generator area, but the reefs make it worth it. Book way in advance.
Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park — The original Big 5 park. Mpila Camp has a great tented camp feel. More authentic than some of the bigger commercial parks.
Ithala Game Reserve — Northern KZN, often overlooked. Beautiful camp at Ntshondwe. Very few tourists.
